Former Aurora man found guilty of threatening to kill Kane County judge
A former Aurora man was convicted Friday of threatening to kill a Kane County judge and his family.
James Warren, 48, was found guilty of threatening a public official, a felony charge, by Judge Philip G.
Montgomery, Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office officials said in a news release.
On June 26, 2018, Warren posted threats on his public Facebook page to kill the judge presiding over a family-court case involving Warren, officials said. He also posted threatening comments on June 28, 2018, and July 24, 2018, according to officials.
Montgomery, a visiting judge from the 23rd Judicial Court, heard the case because the victim is a Kane County judge. Warren waived his rights to a jury trial.
Warren faces probation or up to five years in prison. He remains free on bond while awaiting sentencing on March 5.
