Pipeline installation on Graham Hill Road to cause delays

Pipeline installation on Graham Hill Road starts Monday and will cause weekday traffic delays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with wait times of up to five minutes. The Santa Cruz Water Department is relocating 3.7 miles of the Newell Creek Pipeline from Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park to under Graham Hill Road to increase reliability and climate resilience. The work schedule for the coming week includes utility surveying on Monday, followed by pavement grinding on Tuesday and pipe installation beginning Wednesday. The work will begin a few hundred feet south of Summit Avenue and continue south along Graham Hill Road toward Lockewood Lane.

This pipeline transports water between the City of Santa Cruz’s Loch Lomond Reservoir and the Graham Hill Water Treatment Plant. The existing 18- to 27-inch diameter pipe, which travels through Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, was built in 1960. Construct will take about two years.

Chorale presents ‘Palestrina Leads the Way’
