Fans of Terance Mann who want to see the Lowell native play in the NBA now won’t have to travel across the country to do so.

Less than an hour before the NBA trade deadline Thursday, Mann was dealt by the Los Angeles Clippers to the Atlanta Hawks.

He was traded with Bones Hyland to Atlanta for Bogdan Bogdanovic and three second-round picks.

Mann, who was selected in the second round (48th overall) by the Clippers in 2019, has spent all 382 of his NBA games with Los Angeles. Mann gained a reputation as a dependable multi-purpose defender and playmaker, but his playing time this season for the Clippers was down.

He played an average of 19.8 minutes per game. In that time, he averaged 6.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

Mann was a four-year standout at Florida State. In his last two seasons in college, he averaged 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He became only the third player in program history to collect 1,200 points, 600 rebounds, 200 assists and 100 steals.

Mann hasn’t forgotten his Lowell roots.

He has a run a basketball camp for youths the past two summers and last summer he staged activities that spanned nearly a week in and around the Mill City. He said it’s important to give back to the community he was raised in.

He moved to Lowell at age 10 with his family after being born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He did not play basketball for Lowell High, instead opting to attend Tilton School in New Hampshire, a prep school powerhouse.

Mann agreed to a three-year, $47 million extension before the season with the Clippers. The deal will kick in next season.

The last couple of days have been busy ones for NBA executives across the league.
