Three people from Los Angeles suspected of burglarizing a Chino Hills pharmacy led authorities on multiple pursuits before their arrests on Sunday, authorities said.

Just after 5 a.m., deputies arrived at the pharmacy in the 2100 block of Grand Avenue where the three suspects were in the middle of burglarizing the business, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies were notified about the break-in by a security company that remotely monitors the pharmacy.

The trio fled when authorities arrived.

One suspect led deputies on a foot pursuit, narrowly injuring a deputy with a large metal bar they had thrown before they were taken into custody.

A second suspect ran to their vehicle and engaged in a struggle with a deputy in the driver’s seat before pressing on the gas pedal and ramming into a patrol vehicle.

The suspect then dragged the deputy from the vehicle for about 30 feet before the deputy lost his grip, authorities said.

A vehicle pursuit ensued until the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed along the westbound lanes on the 60 Freeway, near Rowland Heights. He attempted to flee again on foot and was taken into custody.

The third suspect was found in the area a couple hours later.

The suspects were described as men ages 21 and 24, along with an 18-year-old person whose gender was not immediately disclosed.

A safe and pharmaceuticals believed to have been stolen in a separate robbery were found inside the vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Georgia, according to authorities.

Information on where the other robbery may have taken place was not immediately available.

The suspects were booked on various counts including burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
