Happy to have someone get their goat, a group of enthusiastic yogis took part in a unique morning exercise class on Easter Sunday.

Hello Critter, a Glendale-based company, hosted a Goat Yoga event at the Castle Green in Pasadena.

Close to 50 participants combined a series of stretches and postures with the less-serious antics of three friendly Capra hircus.

“Animals, they just make us feel good and laugh, and we can get out of our heads,” yoga instructor Tina Lenert said. “It just really brings a lot of laughter and you never know what’s going to happen.”

Intermittently urged on by the handlers, the goats — Goldie, Lashes and Patches — made themselves at home on the front lawn of the historic building, as well as the backs, shoulders and even heads of the delighted yogis.

“It’s helping out the muscles in the back,” said Justin Love of Hollywood, who enjoyed the experience. “It’s helping ease the tension and they add to the overall experience and fun of the practice.”

Nina Allard and her family drove from Huntington Beach to try goat yoga.

“We just wanted to do something memorable that we’d never forget,” she said. “We wanted to do something with the family that we’d remember.”

While Lenert warned participants not to lie on their backs as the animals could jump hard on their stomachs, she encouraged people to let the goats push into their backs or sides, combining a flex with a bit of barnyard massage.

“They love to climb and they also love tunnels,” she said, as goats squiggled their ways in and out between people’s legs, onto their backs, and over their shoulders.

Michelle Tritten, owner of Hello Critter, declared that Los Angeles could use some good vibrations right about now.

“It’s just family time here with the goats and some good, wholesome fun,” she said. “We’re trying to create some Easter magic here at the Castle Green.”
