What's Quickly? It's where readers sound off on the issues of the day. Have a quote, question or quip? Call Quickly at 312-222-2426 or email quickly@post-trib.com.
What a great deal Trump has made with Carrier. It's certainly great for Carrier. They get incentives and tax breaks and still get to send 1,000 jobs to Mexico. This is an example of Trump's superior dealmaking? Carrier execs are probably laughing.
President Obama had the chance to make pot a Schedule 2 drug instead of a Schedule 1 drug, which is in the same category as cocaine. Maybe it's just to hard to regulate the pot industry, and the government can't figure out a way to make money off it like student loans.
The tough Trump-bashers in Quickly are still mouthing off. Here is a stat for you: Republicans increased their control in state legislatures leaving Democrats with their lowest level since the Civil War. This wasn't just a drubbing nationally; it was also a drubbing in the states. An absolute repudiation of eight years of failed Obama and socialist policies.
I am not working on my job for the next two months. There is nothing to do during the holidays. I cannot collect unemployment because I am going back to work in January or February. It is called a planned shutdown. In the meantime, I am not getting paid.
We pay taxes for public education. If you want your kids to go to a religious school or some private school, that is your responsibility, not mine.
Ed Soliday, Ed Charbonneau, and Betsy DeVos, Trump's designee for Secretary of Education, all have something in common. All three of them have opposed any kind of accountability for the millions of taxpayer dollars spent to support charter schools.
If you had a child who had epilepsy, and medicinal marijuana could help your child from having seizures, would you take the chance and try it? My guess is you would. So like I always told my old pappy, there's no one better person to ask about smoking pot than someone who never tried it. You anti-pot folks out there sound just like Bill O'Reilly. Doesn't have the first clue of the effects, but he's a full-blown expert on the subject.
“Wait until Trump actually does something before you protest.” What, like make numerous racist comments? Or like mocking the disabled? Or like bragging about how he can sexually assault women because he's famous? Or how about when he advocates for torture? If those aren't reasons to protest, I'd really love to hear what you think would do it for you.
For the love of humanity and Quickly readers, enough of the Trump posts. Please either go back to the old Quickly and complaints about roundabouts or move the Trump posts to a completely new section. I really don't care what other folks opinions are about him, pro or con. I can make up my own mind.
