Rockies, their fans deserve better

Re: “Another 100-loss season,” Sept. 23 sports story

With Tuesday’s loss, the Colorado Rockies accomplished something only three other teams in MLB history have managed: losing 100 games four consecutive seasons. The last team to pull this off? The 1962-65 New York Mets, an expansion team widely remembered as one of the worst teams in baseball history.

At this point, it is beyond time for the Monforts to give up control of the Rockies. Colorado fans deserve better than watching the same failures repeat year after year.

If the current ownership cannot build a competitive organization, it should step aside and give someone else the opportunity to do it. The Rockies and their fans deserve better.

Our beloved but befuddled Rockies made it with a half dozen games to spare. Another 100 games lost, season safely in the books. To laugh or cry — or both — is the response. I remember high school (Class of ’58) where I first observed that it’s really tough to play in a sport where the competition is so darn good, while you’re so … not. Our cry back then was, maybe next year (it wasn’t).

The Colorado Rockies have now achieved four consecutive losing seasons by losing 100 games each of the last four years. Congratulations are in order for the horrible leadership of the Colorado Rockies.

From 1993-2024, my dad and I enjoyed going to every Opening Day game. Plus, a number of games during the season.

No more. The ticket prices and concessions are outrageously expensive. The team is so bad that one has to wonder if even a local high school team could beat the current “professionals” on the field. Regardless of the Broncos ownership claiming a stake in the team, the damage is done.

The Rockies not only lost two baseball fans, so has Major League Baseball. Our father-son time will be spent doing other things, but attending a Rockies game will not be one of them.
