I just read about the Illinois Department of Corrections health care failures, most of which I guess is caused by staffing shortages. Since medical school and college is expensive and cause massive student loans, why can’t the state with federal subsidies pay some debt of college and medical student work, for instance, three years at a state facility. Those who choose to work in prisons could get a bonus. Hopefully better care at nursing homes, senior facilities and some prisons.

Why is it that all your packages get delivered from Chicago if you live in Tinley Park. There’s an Amazon building right on Harlem Avenue and Vollmer and there’s another one in Markham, but our packages come from Chicago and get delivered late, late in the afternoon.

MJ, Worth, the police have every legal right to raise their level of force one step above the perpetrator’s level up the continuum until the arrest is made. Ask any police officer and they will tell you the bag the offender had is the holster of choice for gun toting, so they reasonably believed a gun was inside. There were multiple wrongs here, but they were all committed by the loaded, gun carrying, resisting, fleeing criminal who was disobeying lawful orders the police gave and trying to access an illegal gun.

With so much ink on stories about politics of reproductive health, there is one story unseen that journalists would do well to consider: the scores if not hundreds of volunteers and workers at Illinois Crisis Pregnancy Centers offering free services to women and their babies. Ultrasound, support, education and baby items available and much of this at least through age 3 of the child. Plans for expansion are also in the works. In the area exist Aid for Women; PASS Network for Life; Southside Pregnancy Center and the Womens’ Center.
