More criminal charges have been filed against a Farmington Hills man accused of barricading himself and shooting at police last month.

With the addition of six felony charges, Dejuan Patrick Evans, 32, faces 18 felonies and one misdemeanor in connection with the alleged Sept. 15 incident. The added charges are three counts each of assault with intent to murder and felony firearm.

Police said the barricading began with Evans holing up in an apartment near Middlebelt and 12 Mile roads after he reportedly assaulted his girlfriend. The girlfriend and her two kids managed to escape the apartment, but Evans refused to come out when ordered to by officers. He reportedly fired multiple times at police, hitting cars and homes, before an Oakland County Sheriff’s SWAT team member shot him.

Evans was hospitalized for his gunshot wound. The Oakland Press has asked for an update on his condition and his booking photo but hasn’t heard back yet.

According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, Evans allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and threatened her life in front of her children, ages 8 and 14 — prompting one of the children to call 911.

Evans was initially charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of felonious assault, felon in possession of a firearm, six counts of felony firearm and misdemeanor domestic violence.

Arraignment on the additional charges is set for Oct. 16 during a probable cause conference before 47th District Judge Marla Parker.
