A Rochester elementary school staff member was recently placed on paid administrative leave following allegations they were “being physical” with students, officials said.

Officials did not name the North Hill Elementary School staff member in an email to parents the Detroit News reviewed Friday. North Hill is on Mahaffy Avenue.

A report has been filed with Children’s Protective Services, Rochester Community Schools Superintendent Nicholas Russo and NHES Principal Tamara Jones-Jackson said in the email.

The email did not detail the nature of the claims against the employee.

“Nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our students,” officials said in the email.

Rochester Community Schools is the largest school district in Oakland County with more than 14,000 students. A district representative said it cannot comment on ongoing investigations, according to an emailed statement to The Detroit News.

The situation follows recent charges or allegations related to Michigan school employees and students.

A former Fraser High School contact employee pleaded no contest to having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl as of Oct. 3.

In Oakland County, a substitute teacher in Highland Township was charged in September for criminal sexual conduct with three students who were minors. The female victims’ ages range from 9 to 11, officials said.

A former Ypsilanti middle school employee was also ordered to stand trial for allegedly assaulting a student in June.
