The BLU Educational Foundation, in partnership with the Black Equity Initiative of the Inland Empire, will host the fourth annual Inland Empire Black Education Congress from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday on the campus of San Bernardino Valley College, 701 S. Mount Vernon Ave., San Bernardino.
Educators, school administrators, policy influencers, students and others are invited to attend the event that will include interactive workshops, discussions, a resource fair, a networking lunch and regional updates on educational equity.
This year’s Inland Empire Black Education Congress will highlight progress made on the Black Education Agenda, a regional strategy to improve educational outcomes for Black students and families across the Inland Empire, according to a news release.
The agenda’s priorities include expanding culturally responsive teaching and curriculum, supporting Black educator pipelines and leadership, investing in mental health and wellness for Black youth, strengthening community-school partnerships, and increasing access to higher education and career pathways.
“The Inland Empire Black Education Congress is more than an event — it’s a movement,” Dina Walker, president and chief executive officer of the BLU Educational Foundation, said in the news release. “We are cultivating a space where Black brilliance, culture and leadership are at the center of educational transformation.”
