Here’s a look at who turned out to be the top high school softball players in the county. The Monterey Herald’s All-County Softball team.

Addison Amaral, Notre Dame>>A member of The Herald’s All-County Volleyball and Softball teams that past season, the senior hit .475 for the Northern California Division II runner-ups. Bound for the University of Notre Dame on a softball scholarship as a shortstop, Amaral produced a team-high .539 on-base percentage, while hitting 10 homers, driving in 32 runs and scoring 34.

Dani Amendola, Alvarez>>One of six sophomores named to the all-county team, Amendola led the county in strikeouts with 183 in 127 innings. A repeater on the All-County team, the hard-throwing right-handed pitcher was at her best in the postseason, striking out 28 in 17 innings, pitching the Eagles to their second straight Central Coast Section divisional title.

Sophia Cardinale, Notre Dame>>Emerging this year as the ace of Spirits’ pitching staff as a sophomore, Cardinale went 17-3 in the circle with 165 strikeouts in 139 innings. Cardinale tossed five shutouts, with four of those shutouts coming in the postseason as the Spirits won their record 17th Central Coast Section divisional title. She also hit .359, driving in 10 runs.

Sabrina Hardin, Stevenson>>The sophomore shortstop evolved at the plate this spring for the Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division champions, hitting .482 in earning league Most Valuable Player honors. Hardin shared the team lead in homers with five, while driving in a team-leading 38 runs in 22 games. She also collected 32 hits, with a team high six triples.

Abi Jones, Salinas>>A critical part in the Cowboys charge this past spring in the circle and at the plate, Jones led the team in hitting at .426, finishing with 12 walks and a team-high .524 on-base percentage. The sophomore compiled eight multiple-hit games, leading the CCS Division II finalists in the triples. Jones finished second in hits and stolen bases. In the circle, she recorded 122 strikeouts and posted a 1.76 ERA.

Ella Lee, Pacific Grove>>The table setter for the Breakers offense, Lee finished with a team-high 51 hits, including 19 multiple-hit games. Lee scored 42 runs and led Pacific Grove in stolen bases (12) and triples (5). The sophomore also spent time in the circle for the Central Coast Section Division IV finalists, striking out 56 hitters, posting a 3.62 earned run average.

Katarina Manuofetoa, Monterey>>Hitting in the heart of the order, the senior catcher provided another power source with six homers for the two-time Central Coast Section Division II champions. Manuofetoa compiled a .423 on-base percentage for Monterey, driving in 18 runs. Behind the plate, she was flawless in 170 chances, while handling the pitching staff.

Ella Myers, Monterey>>A repeater on the all-county team, the jump to the Gabilan Division only invigorated Myers, who won 14 games in the circle with 166 strikeouts, eight shutouts, three no-hitters and a 2.01 earned run average. At the plate, the sophomore hit .421 with nine homers and 26 runs batted in, scoring 29 runs. Myers tossed a no-hitter in the playoffs and hit a two-run walk-off homer in the Central Coast Section Division II title game.

Marley Panziera, Salinas>>UC Davis bound on a softball scholarship, the multi-sport standout hit .373 with a .471 on-base percentage for the Cowboys. Panziera finished with a team-high four homers and led Salinas with 13 doubles — with 19 of her 28 hits going for extra bases. She also scored 20 runs, while anchoring the infield on defense.

Samantha Rey, Notre Dame>>The Gabilan Division’s Most Valuable Player, the second baseman used her speed to lead the Central Coast Section Division I champions in homers (12). Rey hit a team-high .476, sharing the team lead in hits (48). A repeater on the all-county team, the Central Florida University-bound Rey compiled a .522 on-base percentage, while leading the team in stolen bases (18), runs batted in (37) and runs scored (35).

Kaimi Tulua, Seaside>>Bound for Syracuse University on a softball scholarship in two years, Tulua was the most feared hitter in the county, walking 32 times in just 13 games. The Cypress Division Offensive Player of the Year, the right-handed power hitter delivered when pitched too, hitting 10 homers with 27 runs batted in, while batting .833 for the Spartans.

Ame Visesio, North County>>Of Visesio’s team-high 38 hits, 23 went for extra bases as the senior hurler led the Condors in eight different categories. Visesio hit a team-high .521, while leading North County in runs batted in (28), homers (6) and doubles (13). In the circle, she compiled an earned run average of 2.93, posting 11 wins.

Thomas Main, Stevenson coach>>A year after winning just five divisional games, the Pirates went 13-1 in capturing the Mission Division title — their first league title in 13 years. After starting the season 0-2, Stevenson rattled off 15 straight wins, finishing the year 18-4, its most wins in eight years.
