A Chicago man admitted Thursday he shot his ex-girlfriend in an alley behind her job.

Desmond Webb, 37, signed a plea deal for aggravated battery, a level 3 felony.

If Judge Gina Jones accepts the plea deal, his sentence would be capped at 10 years. Prosecutors would drop several charges including attempted murder, stalking and domestic battery.

His sentencing is Jan. 30.

Court records allege he stalked the woman, then shot her just below her left eye on Oct. 27, 2022, as she got out of a black Audi in the alley in the 5600 block of Hohman Avenue in Hammond. Her child and new boyfriend were also in the car.

The shooting left her permanently disfigured.

Deputy Prosecutor Cassandra Washington is assigned and defense lawyer Lakeisha Murdaugh is representing Webb.
