Sheriff’s office: Remains are human
Sheriff’s deputies identified human remains found Tuesday morning near Lyons in the 1000 block of Blue Mountain Road, according to a press release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
The death is considered to be suspicious, according to a release.
The sheriff’s office received a call shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday morning about the remains, according to the release. Blue Mountain Road is also known as County Road 71 North.
“We have no reason to believe that there is a threat to public safety,” the release says.
Due to the condition of the remains, law enforcement did not provide the decedent’s gender, according to the release.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim publicly once next of kin notification has been made.
Assisting agencies include the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the Boulder County Coroner’s Office, the Boulder Emergency Squad and Lyons Fire.

High school students to present one-act plays
Boulder High School’s theater program is presenting one-act plays at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The free performance will include five short, student-directed plays. The student-directed plays are a long-standing tradition at the Boulder High School and are open to the community. City government announces Indigenous Peoples Day events
The Boulder city government will offer a slate of events in October to recognize Indigenous Peoples Day, including a celebration hosted by Right Relationship Boulder at the Dairy Arts Center.
City workers provide support each year to organizations that recognize Indigenous Peoples Day “through events and celebrations honoring the existence, culture and contributions of the original inhabitants of North America,” according to a news release. This year, free community events are planned from Oct. 12 to 14.
Right Relationship Boulder will host an event from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Dairy Arts Center, 2590 Walnut St., Boulder. The event includes panel discussions, Native music and dance, art and a food truck. Right Relationship Boulder will organize the event in collaboration with The Northern Arapaho Tribe, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, Creative Nations, and the Rocky Mountain Indigenous Dancers.
