Chicago

Navy Pier

Fireworks: 9:30 p.m. July 4.

The pier will close if official capacity is reached. Patrons with tickets or reservations at select restaurants and attractions will be admitted, but it is recommended that ticket-holders arrive far in advance of their reservations.

Northwest Indiana

Crown Point

Fireworks: dusk, July 4

Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. 219-712-3908.

The day will begin with a parade at 2 p.m., starting at Eisenhower Elementary School, 1450 S. Main St. and ending at Goldscorough and Main streets.

Hobart

Fireworks: dusk, July 4.

Festival Park, 111 E. Old Ridge Road. 219-942-2987.

There will be a parade at 10 a.m. starting at Hobart Middle School at 36 E 8th St. At, 4 p.m. at Festival Park there will be a summer market with 60 vendors and a live band.

Portage

Fireworks: Dusk. July 4.

Founders Square Park, 6300 Founders Square. 219-762-1675.

There will be a mini festival from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 4 at Gilbert Park, 2775 Willowcreek Road. There will be food vendors and live music in the gazebo. A parade at 11 a.m. will begin at Nativity Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road. There with be a Fourth of July Festival at Founders Square Park from 5 to 9:30 p.m. with live music and food vendors.

Valparaiso

Fireworks: 9:15 p.m. July 4.

Urschel Field, Valparaiso Street and Vale Park Road. 219-462-5144.

The day will begin with a 5k run/walk in Foundation Meadows Park at 3210 N. Campbell St. at 7:30 a.m., and a 2k run beginning at 7:45 a.m. for ages 12 and under. Evening events start at 6:30 at Urschel Field with music and patriotic events.
