‘Fun raiser’ wine-tasting at Elgin History Museum Friday

The Elgin History Museum will be holding a wine tasting “fun raiser” from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept 29.

Certified wine educator Don Clemens will teach attendees about the differences in wines through eight tastings, according to a news release.

There will also be light snacks to pair with the wines as well as a raffle. Tickets are $40 for museum members; $45 for guests.

‘Super Mario Brothers’ being shown at Dolphin Cove

“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” will be screened at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, in the parking lot of the Dolphin Cove Family Aquatic Center, 300 N. Kennedy Drive in Carpentersville.

Sound will be transmitted via to car radios so those in attendance can stay in their vehicles or bring blankets and chairs to watch the film, according to the Dundee Township Park District website.

Cost is $15 per vehicle. The registration deadline is noon Friday.

First Responders Fest being held in Panton Mill Park

South Elgin will be hosting America’s First Responders Fest from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in Panton Mill Park, 10 Water St., along the Fox River.

The free event will honor law enforcement workers, firefighters, veterans, and emergency and medical personnel, according to the event website.

Among the activities planned is a run/walk, classic car show, live music, food, market vendors, kids’ activities, first responder-related displays and a ceremony honoring first responders.

Rake-O Family Fall Festival this Saturday at library

The Rakow Branch of the Gail Borden Public Library will be hosting a Rake-O Fall Festival from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.

The free event will feature fall-themed games, a family craft, live music, photo opportunities, Rakow Rangers’ activities, prizes and a pumpkin patch, according to a news release.
