A Batavia man pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography that involved a victim under the age of 13, Kane County prosecutors said.

David Winecke, 67, was recently sentenced to six years in prison in exchange for a guilty plea of spreading and possessing multiple videos and still images of child pornography prior to Dec. 20, 2022, Kane County prosecutors said in a news release Thursday.

Kane County Judge Alice Tracy accepted the plea, according to the release. Winecke, of the 1200 block of Hazelwood Court, receives credit for time he has served in the Kane County jail. He had been free on $10,000 bond, officials said.

In addition to the prison term, Winecke must register for life as a sexual offender.

He was identified and investigated by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, a recent initiative to investigate tips of individuals possessing or disseminating child pornography, officials said.
