A public vote will be conducted for the second year to select the nonprofit organization of the year in Macomb County as part of the annual Macomb Business Awards to be held in May.
The county Department of Planning and Economic Development created the Nonprofit of the Year last year and is continuing to offer it this year, county officials said in a news release. Voting on the county web site begins Monday, March 24 and ends March 30. Those votes will be tallied alongside official judge scores to determine the winner of the Nonprofit of the Year Award, presented by Advancing Macomb, officials said.
“We launched the nonprofit category and the public vote in 2024 as a way to recognize all of the deserving organizations that contribute to the well-being of our community, and it grew into an incredible crowdsourcing effort, with hundreds of votes cast and lots of engagement around the topic,” said Vicky Rowinski, director of the county PED, in the release.
The list of candidates has been narrowed to 20 nominees. Voters can choose one organization.
The winner will be announced May 15 at the 13th Macomb Business Awards at the AMC Forum 30 in Sterling Heights. The event recognizes local businesses and organizations for their positive workplace culture, achievements and other contributions to the community. Categories include Best Place to Work, “Fueling That Talent Pipeline,” Green Macomb Sustainability, Hidden Gem and Manufacturer of the Year, according to officials.
The 2025 Macomb Business Awards is sponsored by Consumers Energy, First State Bank, Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works!, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, OneMacomb, Connect Macomb, Macomb Community College, Advancing Macomb, the Macomb County Chamber, the Macomb Intermediate School District, JVIS USA, and SMART.
Tickets at $45 go on sale March 31. For more details visit macombgov.org/macomb-business/macomb-business-awards.
