Authorities have identified a 37-year-old Oklahoma man whose body was found at the bottom of a coastal cliff in Fort Bragg over the weekend.

Bjorn L. Miller, of Yukon, Oklahoma, was discovered around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, near the 31000 block of Bay View Avenue, less than a mile south of the Noyo River Bridge, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department.

Miller was found on rocks near the waterline at the bottom of a roughly 70-foot cliff, according to police. Emergency responders, including Fort Bragg firefighters and sheriff’s deputies, worked to recover his body from the rugged shoreline. An autopsy conducted Wednesday, April 15, determined Miller’s preliminary cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head and trunk, along with submersion in ocean water, sheriff’s officials said.

The manner of death remains under investigation pending completion of the forensic pathologist’s report.

“We’re still actively investigating the manner,” Capt. Quincy Cromer, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department, said Thursday, April 16. “We’re waiting for the investigation to be complete and then the forensic pathologist to finish their autopsy investigation to assist us in making that determination.”

Investigators have said Miller’s injuries are consistent with a significant fall and that there is no indication of suspicious circumstances or criminal activity at this stage.

Miller’s vehicle was located near the cliff and taken into custody as part of the coroner’s investigation.

Authorities declined to confirm additional personal details, including Miller’s employment, noting that such information may be released once the investigation is finalized.
