Mountain-goers will once again dine, drink, and lounge at Snowmass Ski Resort’s renovated Lynn Britt Cabin, reopening before the end of the year.
Aspen Skiing Company renovated Lynn Britt, now known as just “The Cabin,” to increase the deck capacity of the establishment and meet a rising demand for on-mountain dining, part of a mountain-wide initiative outlined by SkiCo in 2022. Lynn Britt closed this past summer for renovation, which extended into the fall.
“The project has been approved as construction has been happening all summer and it is set to open in December,” SkiCo Director of Communications Hannah Dixon said.
New renovations to The Cabin, located under The Village Express Lift, will increase its hosting capacity from 115 to 260 guests, supporting 200 outdoors and 60 indoors, according to Aspen Snowmass. Per a recent estimate by SkiCo, Snowmass lacks a total of 460 to 650 seats to meet the increased on-mountain dining demand.
The Cabin’s increased capacity will better disperse the high volume of dining guests across the mountain, according to the Snowmass 2022 master Development Plan.
“The planned changes to The Lynn Britt Cabin and the Spider Sabich Picnic/Race Arena areas will increase utilization of those areas,” SkiCo wrote in the plan. “Taking pressure off of other restaurants.”
First built in 1998, The Cabin was originally named after late Snowmass Ski Instructor Lynn Britt, who died of cancer in 1986.
SkiCo said the renovated Cabin will combine Western ambiance with a vibrant atmosphere. They will offer creative comfort food and European-inspired dishes. Some of the menu items include: charcuterie, Hunter’s chicken with wild mushroom ragout, house-made pâté, and fine wines. The Cabin will also feature food trucks on the expanded outdoor patio.
Once open, The Cabin will host live entertainment, aprés parties, and snowcat dinners, where guests are carted uphill by Snowcat to dine after dark, according to SkiCo.
The changes to the cabin join a list of planned renovations outlined in the Development Plan as they strive to meet the goal to “enhance and improve the on-mountain dining experience by modernizing aging facilities and adding seats and capacity to meet guest demand and diminish overcrowding in existing facilities.”
