Angel Reese’s historic rookie season is over. The Chicago Sky forward said on social media that she has a season-ending injury, but didn’t elaborate. She was listed on the team’s injury report with a wrist injury.

Reese finishes the season averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds. It’s the highest rebound average in the history of the league. Reese also set the rookie record with 26 double-doubles — her last coming in a win over the Sparks on Friday night.

Earlier in the season, Reese had 15 straight games with a double-double to break the league’s record. She also set the mark for total rebounds in a season, passing Sylvia Fowles’ mark.

Chicago is battling for the WNBA’s final playoff spot, currently tied with Atlanta for the eighth position.

• Jacob Shaffelburg and Jonathan David scored off defensive misplays, and Canada beat the United States 2-1 in a friendly in Kansas City, Kan., for its first win over the Americans on U.S. soil since 1957.

Coming off defeats to Panama and Uruguay at the Copa America, the U.S. has lost three straight games for the first time since 2015 against Brazil, Mexico and Costa Rica.

Shaffelburg put Canada ahead in the 17th minute after Tim Ream’s pass bounced away from Johnny Cardoso, and David added his 29th international goal in the 58th for the lead when Ream turned over the ball in front of his own goal.

Luca de la Torre scored his first international goal for the U.S. in the 66th minute off a pass from Aidan Morris, who entered with de la Torre four minutes earlier.

Murray, Nuggets reach 4-year, $208M deal

Denver Nuggets star point guard Jamal Murray agreed to a four-year, $208 million maximum contract extension, multiple sources reported. The deal, which keeps Murray out of free agency next summer, awaited the requisite signatures.

Murray made a remarkable return from a torn ACL that sidelined him for all of the 2021-22 season to help lead the Nuggets to the franchise’s first NBA title in 2023.

Murray is three-time MVP, Nikola Jokic’s pick-and-roll partner and provides the Nuggets with one of the NBA’s best offensive duos.

The extension will keep Murray in a Nuggets uniform through the 2028-29 season.

Since moving to the drafting track configuration in 2022, Hill has won three of the five Xfinity races at Atlanta. The other two winners — Cup Series regulars Ty Gibbs and John Hunter Nemechek — were not in Saturday’s race.

It was the third win of the season for Hill, who opened with back-to-back Xfinity races at Daytona and Atlanta.

Spain’s Alfredo Garcia-Heredia is his nearest challenger, four behind.

Riders compete in five grades, with Grade I for the most severely impaired.

Howard and Hart previously won individual golds this week and helped the U.S. win the team event Friday.

American swimmer Jessica Long extended her mammoth Paralympics medal collection to 31 with gold in the S8 100-meter butterfly. She won in 1 minute, 10.59 seconds, finishing one second clear of Viktoriia Ishchiulova.
