Two more men have been arrested in connection with an August shooting outside a Santa Rosa bar that left a man wounded, bringing the number of arrests in the attempted murder investigation to three, police said.

The men, ages 39 and 41, were arrested Sept. 3, after Santa Rosa police investigators identified them as allegedly having roles in the Aug. 2 shooting outside The Zoo bar in the 500 block of Barham Avenue.

Both were arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm, conspiracy and gang-related allegations, police said. The 39-year-old Santa Rosa man was also arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine for sale.

The Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the cases against the two men, who had not been formally charged as of Thursday.

Police initially arrested Edward Sciutto, 39, of Rohnert Park, on Aug. 3 after investigators identified him through surveillance video as the suspected gunman. Sciutto pleaded not guilty Aug. 26 to charges stemming from the shooting, according to Sonoma County Superior Court records. He remains in custody at the Sonoma County jail in lieu of bail.

The shooting happened shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, after a confrontation in the bar’s parking lot. Police allege that Sciutto pulled out a handgun and fired at the victim, striking him once in the arm.

The man was taken to a hospital and has since been released. Investigators believe the shooting involved people associated with rival gangs, police said.

Sciutto previously served prison time after he was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the 2010 stabbing death of 25-year-old Bounnoi Douangmeechit outside a Santa Rosa birthday party. A jury in 2011 also found the killing was committed for the benefit of a gang.

The 41-year-old man arrested Thursday also has a previous manslaughter conviction. He pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in 2004 and admitted using a firearm in the killing. He was sentenced to six years in state prison, while a murder charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
