Aliso Canyon natural gas facility

Re “Be pragmatic about Aliso Canyon” (Dec. 19):

It is clear that Governor Newsom and his limousine liberal friends have no regard for the real energy needs of California’s poor and middle class. Forgotten is the fact that most of us want access to natural gas and affordable gasoline. Aliso Canyon remains an important storage facility. Also ignored is the fact that most of our electricity is generated by fossil fuels and that the majority of America’s improved carbon footprint has resulted from the shift from coal to gas. Global warming is real, but this state’s green initiatives have had zero effect on the Earth’s climate change. It is time to focus more on carbon sequestration, forest management and the elimination of wildfires. In other words, on what works.

Mass immigration deportation protest

Victoria Ivie’s article reports that hundreds of L.A. migrant supporters chanted “What do we want? Justice,” which appears to be an immediate pathway to citizenship, in “L.A. protesters rally for immigrants,” Dec. 19.

Are they speaking for the millions (many outside the U.S.) who are standing in line waiting for entry, naturalization and citizenship? Those who have consented to be vetted, have their homeland legal papers examined, and in a majority of cases sponsored. Yet over the four years, 3 million people have cut in line and cry to be heard above the rest. Is this just and fair? I know what it took to become a citizen by age 25. To be fair to those in line, let’s have a process that has the burden of proof on the applicant (whether asylum or otherwise) to show they are just, and honest people. It’s justice, and respect to follow the orderly process of another’s country.

Please Lord no

Re “Harris as our next governor” (Dec. 17):

It would be a real hoot to have Harris jump in the run for governor in 2026. Between her, Villaraigosa, Porter, Bonta and the other 23 in the running it should help the economy of California and provide so many comical moments. My concern is with so many dopey Democrats in the state and without a good GOP opponent, she could win. Our only hope is that Trump produces a great economy, ends all wars and puts a free chicken in everybody’s pot, then she and her goofy laugh will be gone forever and she can go back to chasing ambulances and GOP wins.

Harris as governor

Lord have mercy. If she ran she would probably win given that there’s no Republican groundswell in Nutlandia. Obama, Pelosi and Schumer hoisted themselves on their own petard with the coup. Joe yelled “Uncle” and as soon as Brutus et al. were out of sight tagged Kamala it. What could they do? To oppose her would be racist, sexist, misogynist. The problem is the girl is obtuse. That video she made some days after the election, she looked rode hard and put up wet — and sounded as though she’d been in the sauce. Kamala has never won anything. Willie Brown was her patron, which goes to show the casting couch is still viable. Joe picked her as the VP DEI slot. She would be the female tiresome version of Newsom. The only hope we have is that the Dems and their paymasters the unions will drive the political subdivisions of cities and counties into bankruptcy, which in turn would cramp Sacramento’s style.

Will Harris be governor?

Of our 80 state assemblymen, 60 are Democrats. Of our 40 state senators, 30 are Democrats. Of our 51 U.S. representatives, 39 are Democrats. Both U.S. senators are Democrats. Of every four registered voters, three are Democrats. Forget the blue wall; California is the blue fortress. Kamala Harris will be our next governor.

— Mike Allred, Norco

Now that’s a good one

Please tuck Kamala away in a corner and put a fork in her. She’s done. She couldn’t lead a rugby team to a bar after a match on a hot summer’s day. No way would/could I ever vote for her.
