Many of the top football and girls flag football senior players from the San Gabriel Valley will be competing against all-star teams from Ventura County on Saturday in a doubleheader at Simi Valley High.
The Los Angeles Rams are sponsoring the game and have provided uniforms for the players.
The San Gabriel Valley girls flag football team is being coached by Bonita’s Mike Mann. They will take on Ventura’s girls at 2 p.m.
Bishop Amat’s Steve Hagerty, who resigned as the Lancers’ coach last month, will coach the SGV football all-stars. Their game starts at 6 p.m.
The SGV football team boasts three talented quarterbacks in Bishop Amat’s Frankie Villalbazo, St. Francis’ John Sanders and La Habra’s Kenny Saucedo.
Glendora’s Simon Zwick, West Covina’s Zander Requena and St. Paul’s Joseph Lafferreare are three of the team’s featured running backs.
La Habra’s two-way standout, Ulavai Fetuli, who plays tight end and defensive end, is also on the SGV squad, along with Muir defensive back Arturo Ayers and Diamond Bar linebacker Matthew Galvan.
The SGV team will practice this week at the University of La Verne from 6 to 8 p.m.

The San Gabriel Valley flag football all-stars have a roster that boasts two of the area’s top quarterbacks in La Serna’s Sierra Flores, who threw for 4,018 yards and 46 touchdowns, and Los Altos’ Jazzy Simental, who threw for over 2,700 yards and 43 touchdowns.
Los Altos’ Rose Portillo, a 1,000-yard rusher, leads the backfield.
