Team records through Sunday
1. LA SALLE (12-1)
The Lancers have won nine straight since a 49-40 loss to Orange Lutheran. They are getting big contributions from Casey Higgins, averaging 15 points, and freshman sensation Aislin Tamez Torres, who averages 12 points and seven rebounds. Good nonleague games next against La Serna and Bonita before tackling the ultra-tough Del Rey League.

2. FLINTRIDGE PREP (8-0)
The Wolves are already 3-0 in the Prep League and won a big nonleague game over Keppel, 43-37. It’s hard to know where the Wolves’ next test will come. But they are in a tournament after Christmas before resuming league play. If they get through December undefeated, they may not lose the rest of the regular season.

3. BONITA (10-2)
The Bearcats have won six straight, which includes a 53-41 victory over Diamond Bar in the Palomares League opener. They also have good wins over Santa Margarita, Orange Lutheran and Bishop Amat. Senior Lexi Mercado is playing well and they will get a shot at top-ranked La Salle on Jan. 3.

4. GLENDORA (9-3)
The Tartans had won six straight before a 47-31 loss to Beckman. The Bearcats opened the Palomares League with a 44-33 win over Ayala. Glendora is set to face undefeated Sierra Canyon (9-0) on Thursday in the first game of the Glendora tournament.

5. SOUTH PASADENA (4-3)
The Tigers started 0-3 while senior forward/center Kayla Boozer was finding her form after coming off volleyball duty. They’ve won four straight and Boozer is averaging 32 points and 10 rebounds. They beat La Canada 53-51 in a tournament game, showing a preview of what’s to come when they face each other two more times in the Rio Hondo League.

6. SONORA (9-3)
The Raiders were undefeated before a 46-43 loss to a strong Rancho Cucamonga squad. They also lost a close game to Yucaipa. They still have much to prove. Their wins haven’t come against the best of competition, but their roster is solid.

7. DIAMOND BAR (6-3)
All three of Diamond Bar’s losses were against quality teams. They lost to Rancho Cucamonga (41-40), El Dorado and to Bonita, 53-41, in the Palomares League opener. The Brahmas had dominated the Hacienda League in recent years, but the new Palomares League will be a test every game.

8. DIAMOND RANCH (8-3)
Jazlyn Wint, Amanda Uyeda and Jordyn Brooks lead a resurgent Panthers squad that has been a big surprise. It notched a 38-25 win over San Dimas and has won six straight, a stretch that includes wins over Colony, Upland and La Habra. Will likely battle Ontario and Chino for the Mt. Baldy League title.

9. LA SERNA (10-2)
The Lancers are one of the area’s early surprises with wins over La Habra, Bishop Amat and a solid overall record. But the big tests will come soon with a showcase game against La Salle on Thursday followed by a tough game against Sonora on Jan. 2.

10. LA CANADA (9-3)
The Spartans have two good wins over Village Christian and played Rio Hondo League rival South Pasadena to a close loss, 53-51, in a tournament. That showed they will be a force to reckon with in league with two more games against South Pasadena. Jennifer Musso averages 12 points a game.
