Team records through Sunday
1. LA MIRADA (10-2)
La Mirada is hoping to be an CIF-SS Open Division contender, and got a taste of it by taking on California’s top-ranked St. John Bosco. The Matadores lost to Bosco 66-47 in the semifinals of the St. John Bosco tournament. The Mats rebounded with a 61-58 win over Fairmont Prep for third place and now get ready for the Damien tournament that starts Wednesday.

2. LA HABRA (14-1)
Acen Jimenez had 22 points and Jaedon Anderson had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 68-37 win over ML King in a Children’s Hospital of Orange County Showcase game. The Highlanders are off to an incredible start with a talented cast that won a CIF-SS title last year.

3. DAMIEN (12-3)
The Spartans suffered a huge setback by losing 7-foot senior Nate Garcia, a two-time San Gabriel Valley player of the year, to a season-ending knee injury. The Spartans were still good enough to reach the championship of the St. John Bosco tournament without him, losing to St. John Bosco, 46-37, in the final. Still, Garcia’s absence will be a mammoth hole to fill.

4. GLENDORA (12-3)
The Tartans have won 10 straight after a 3-3 start. They have won the San Dimas and Glendora tournaments with forward/center Colton Gray leading the way each time. He was named MVP in both tournaments. The Tartans opened the Palomares League with a 72-66 win over Ayala and are in the Damien tournament this week.

5. PASADENA (7-4)
The Bulldogs didn’t fare well during their trip to Las Vegas for the Tarkanian Classic, going 1-3 against quality teams. They finished with a 51-46 loss to Bishop O’Dowd. But the Bulldogs played well as they reached the championship of Maranatha’s season-opening Roundball Classic tourney, losing to power Alemany, 55-46, in the final. They will be just fine.

7. ARCADIA (6-4)

8. BISHOP AMAT (10-3)
The Lancers have certainly solidified themselves as a Top 10 team, advancing to the finals of the Glendora tournament before a 67-56 loss to host Glendora in the final. Freshman Aiden Shaw leads the team by averaging 19 points, and they’re well-rounded with Rayshaun White averaging 17 points and and Eli Chavez averaging 14.

9. ST. FRANCIS (7-3)
The Golden Knights are not as strong as a year ago and had a surprising 48-45 loss to Maranatha. They rebounded nicely by beating La Canada 58-53. But for a team in the Mission League, a tough road lies ahead.

10. LA CANADA (9-3)
Just when you think the Spartans might be taking a step back, they continue to show their consistency under longtime coach Tom Hofman. They are likely the Rio Hondo League favorites again. They have good wins over Keppel and San Dimas, and played St. Francis close in a loss, 58-53.
