Yolo County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is seeking volunteer child advocates for their fall training session that starts Oct. 11, 2023.
After successfully completing a background screening and 34 hours of training, volunteers are appointed by the juvenile dependency court judge to advocate for a child in the system for a minimum 18-month commitment.
A CASA volunteer works one-on-one with a foster youth. This role includes weekly fun outings where they get to know the child, as well as advocating on their behalf with case professionals and attending court hearings every six months to make recommendations in the best interest of the child.
Join CASA from 12 — 1 p.m. at the Yolo CASA office (722B Main Street, Woodland) on Thursday, Sept. 7, to learn more about this meaningful volunteer opportunity, see advocate resources and meet the staff.
RSVPs are helpful, but not required. To rsvp or for questions, email info@yolocasa.org or call 530-650-9351.
Virtual information sessions are also available upon request at www.yolocasa.org/volunteer.
