1. LA MIRADA (15-3)

The Matadores are playing like the area’s top-ranked team, having won 10 straight and showing no signs of slowing down. They have a good test Thursday at Downey (12-4), where they will try to improve to 5-0 in the Gateway League.

2. WHITTIER CHRISTIAN (14-4)

The Heralds haven’t played since a 19-0 victory over Maranatha on March 27. They have won nine straight and are 3-0 in the Olympic League. They have a tough one today against Valley Christian (11-2, 2-0).

3. CHARTER OAK (6-0)

The Chargers have finished their nonleague games and begin Valle Vista League play this week with a pair against Rowland. The Chargers appear to be huge favorites to take league. They have a solid chance of finishing the regular season undefeated.

4. LA HABRA (13-6)

The Highlanders improved to 4-0 in the Freeway League with a 15-0 win over Villa Park. They also crushed Sunny Hills 12-0. They host Sonora in a big league game today.

5. GANESHA (12-4-1)

The Giants should win their remaining nine games, all in the Miramonte League, in the regular season. They are 5-0 in league with five shutouts. The Giants were No. 22 in last week’s CIF Southern Section computer rankings, which could send them to Division 1 for the playoffs.

6. SONORA (13-3)

After beating El Dorado 1-0, the Raiders closed last week with a 3-2 loss to Sunny Hills to drop to 2-2 in the Freeway League. They have a huge game at La Habra today.

7. LOS ALTOS (11-5)

The Conquerors crushed South Hills 6-0 in their Hacienda League opener. Freshman pitcher Kaylahni Duenas was as good as advertised, tossing a one-hit shutout. She also had two RBIs.

8. SOUTH HILLS (9-4-1)

The Huskies were humbled in a 6-0 loss to Los Altos to open the Hacienda League. They’re still working on their chemistry, but the pitching and offense are there. They could be dangerous in the playoffs.

9. CALIFORNIA (9-6)

The Condors have been rolling through the Del Rio League. They beat Whittier 16-1 to improve to 4-0 in league. They hope to keep it going in games this week against Santa Fe and El Rancho this week.

10. BONITA (12-6)

The Bearcats took a trip to Las Vegas and split a pair of games with Las Vegas’ Shadow Ridge, winning 11-2 and losing 7-6. They’re 5-1 in the Palomares League. They play today at Glendora (5-2 in league).
