1. LA MIRADA (14-2)

The Matadores practically wrapped up the Gateway League title last week by sweeping a three-game series with Downey and finishing up a sweep of their three games against Gahr. After winning four games in four days they improved to 8-0 in the Gateway.

2. ARCADIA (16-2)

The Apaches were No. 8 in the first CIF Southern Section computer rankings that will help decide playoff divisions. The Apaches went 3-0 last week, sweeping two games against Glendale and posting a 9-2 win over West Torrance.

3. BISHOP AMAT (14-4)

The Lancers went 2-2 during the National Classic. They have games against Serra today and Friday. Amat is 6-0 in the Del Rey League. A sweep of Serra will give them a great edge over second-place La Salle, who they still have three games left with.

4. MONROVIA (14-3)

The Wildcats have an impressive team ERA of 2.13 and have been swinging their bats well of late, which is why they have won 14 of 17 games. They’re 3-1 in the Rio Hondo League with two games this week against Temple City.

5. SOUTH HILLS (10-6)

The Huskies beat Los Altos 4-3 in nine innings to go to 4-0 in the Hacienda League. They finished the week with a 3-2 loss to Beckman. The Huskies were in Division 1 last season. They were No. 70 in the first CIF-SS computer rankings, which could drop them to Division 3 if the trend continues.

6. ST. PAUL (12-5)

The Swordsmen ended a two-game losing streak with a 13-1 nonleague victory over Southeast. They’re 4-4 in the Del Rey League. This week they have two games against Paraclete that are must wins if they hope to at least finish third in league.

7. LA SALLE (10-5)

The Lancers’ 6-5 loss to Serra dropped them to 5-3 in the Del Rey League, hurting their chances of catching Bishop Amat in the league title chase. They ended the week with a 6-5 win over San Marino.

8. SAN DIMAS (10-6)

The Saints lost to Woodbridge in the championship game of the Ryan Lemmon tournament. Three of their next four games are against struggling Alta Loma, but they do have a challenge against Colony (14-3) on Friday.

9. SAN MARINO (13-5)

The Titans beat Temple City 5-3 to go to 3-1 in the Rio Hondo League. They did not fare well in two nonleague games, losing to La Salle (6-5) and Royal (3-0). Two more nonleague games this week against Pasadena Poly and Salesian.

10. GANESHA (8-3)

The Giants have won five straight, all in the Miramonte League, where they have allowed just one run with four shutouts. With their last 10 games of the regular season against Miramonate League opponents, it figures to be more of the same for the Giants.
