


A 60-year-old bicyclist died after being struck by a car Wednesday on Randall Road in Elgin, police said.
The man’s identity is being withheld pending family notification, an Elgin Police Department news release said. An autopsy will be conducted by the Kane County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
The victim was riding along the right curbside on southbound Randall Road near Big Timber Road about 11:49 a.m. when he moved to his left and was struck by a vehicle being driven southbound by a 24-year-old man, police said.
Transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, the bicyclist later died of his injuries, police said. The driver was not injured.
No charges or tickets have been issued in the case, which remains under investigation by the police department’s Traffic Unit.
