(Records through Sunday)

1. LA MIRADA (10-2)

The Matadores turned heads in the prestigious Boras Classic by beating Huntington Beach (4-1) and Mater Dei (10-2). The Matadores lost 8-3 in the final to Corona, MaxPreps’ top-ranked team in the nation. The Mats’ two losses this season are to Corona. Maybe they’ll get a third crack at Corona down the line.

2. BISHOP AMAT (12-2)

The Lancers swept red-hot St. Paul with superb pitching last week. They won 4-1 in nine innings and earned a 4-0 shutout Friday. They’re 6-0 in the Del Rey League. They will play this week in the National Classic; they opened against Liberty on Monday.

3. ARCADIA (13-2)

The Apaches were swept last week in two games against Orange Lutheran, 4-1 and 5-1. Orange Lutheran is one of the top teams in the state. That was a test the Apaches wanted as they likely will be in Division 1 or 2 for the CIF-SS playoffs. This week they are back in the Pacific League, where they’re 6-0.
