OAKLAND >> A 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg Wednesday night as he rode a go-kart in East Oakland, authorities said.

Another 14-year-old boy riding another go-kart was not hurt in the drive-by shooting, authorities said.

Authorities said the two boys were riding go-karts on 83rd Avenue about 9 p.m. Wednesday when it appears someone in a vehicle began shooting at them.

More shots were fired as the boys rode to the 8300 block of International Boulevard, where they stopped and police were called.

The shooter fled in the vehicle.

The wounded boy was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
