Mary Gladish of Novato California (resident of Concord Ca for 47 years) passed away on April 12, 2022 at the age of 96. Mary was born on Feb 24, 1926 in Princeton, British Columbia, Canada, and grew up one of 12 children as a farm girl on the Brushy Bottom Place near Hedley Canada.

Mary’s life spanned many professions and places throughout Canada and the USA. She had many “firsts” in the family, from first child born in a hospital, first to take up residence in a foreign country (Alaska), first to earn a college degree, first to be divorced, and first to be born again as her hat happily displayed at the many cribbage and family events. She will be remembered for her good nature, sense of humor, puns and the many ditties she wrote to friends and family in honor of their special occasions. Her work career started with the City of Vancouver where she met her husband, to the office manager for the Post Exchange on Ladd Air Force Base in Alaska, to 20 years raising four children, to the Manager of Welfare Fraud Investigations Unit for Contra Costa County retiring in1990. A lifelong learner, Mary graduated from San Francisco University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1978. She took special pride in being independent.

Mary was passionate about Cribbage, traveling to many tournaments throughout the country, achieving ACC Life Master status with over 8,000 points. She was especially fond of her friends at “The 4th St. Terrorists” grass roots club and their weekly games. Thank you!

Family and Friends have fond memories of Mary always being first to remember and to celebrate their special day and hosting the many holidays at Blarney Ave. Lake Tahoe was a special place to Mary where she enjoyed its natural beauty and the many summers together with family. Annual trips to Canada to visit family and attend the annual Gladish Reunion were a must.

Mary is survived by one sister Gwen, four children Marilynn, Bill, Sheree, and Donn; three grandchildren who held a special place in her heart Chuck, Warren and Phillip; and great grandchildren Kendall and Josie.

The family would like to thank Staff at Wildflower for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days.
