La Mirada, Arcadia and Bishop Amat all landed in Division 1 of the CIF Southern Section playoffs in the first year that the CIF-SS used computer rankings to place teams in the baseball playoff divisions.

The baseball playoffs begin Thursday for teams in Divisions 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, and start Friday for teams in Divisions 2, 4, 6 and 8.

La Mirada (21-6), which won the Gateway League title, will be home Thursday against Los Alamitos (17-9-2), which finished third in the Sunset League.

Arcadia (25-3), which went undefeated in the Pacific League, drew a home game against South Coast League champion Aliso Niguel (22-6).

Bishop Amat (22-6) won the Del Rey League, but the Lancers will be on the road against Crestview League runner-up Villa Park (22-6) in the first round.

DIVISION 2

Freeway League champion La Habra (19-9) drew the top seed and will face a team from its own league in the first round. The Highlanders will host Crean Lutheran (18-10), which finished third in the Freeway League.

South Hills (21-7), which won the Hacienda League, has a road game against Trinity League at-large Mater Dei (15-13).

Maranatha (18-9-1) on the road for the first round at Anaheim Canyon (18-10) while La Salle (17-19) is at Gahr (16-12).

Palomares League runner-up Bonita (16-11) is at South Coast League co-champion Trabuco Hills (20-7-1).

DIVISION 3

San Dimas (15-10) dropped to Division 3 after finishing third in the Hacienda League. The Saints will be on the road in Thursday’s first round at Calabasas (17-11)

St. Paul (17-9) will be at Temecula Valley (16-11) and Glendora (18-10) will be at Citrus Valley (16-12).

Rio Hondo League champion San Marino (21-6) will start the playoffs at Great Oak (12-16).

DIVISION 4

Valle Vista League champion Northview (16-10-1) was awarded a home game against Valencia (13-13) of Valencia in Friday’s first round.

Ganesha (18-3) will be home against Burroughs (20-7). La Canada (17-11) tied for second in the Rio Hondo League and will be at Downey (14-14). Sonora (16-12) is at Linfield Christian (15-9-1).

Monrovia (20-7) opens with a home game against Capistrano Valley Christian (16-12) while Del Rio League champion California (20-8) is at Oxnard Pacifica (19-9).
