


Senior Eli Fitchen-Young and junior Seb Williams each won two individual events for Santa Cruz High’s track and field team in its Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League tri-meet victory Thursday in Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz won with a score of 58 points, Scotts Valley (30) took second, and Mount Madonna (four) was third.
Fitchen-Young took first in the 800-meter race (1:59.77) and 1,600 (4:25.44), and Williams took first in the shot put (37 feet, 9 inches) and discus (101-1).
Santa Cruz also won in the 4×400 relay (3:41.87), and earned event wins from senior Dylan Hermanson (400, 52.22), sophomore Alex Lee (triple jump, 35-10), and freshman Holden Diaz (long jump, 18-11).
Scotts Valley won the 4×100 relay (48.75), and earned event wins from senior William Shilling (100, 11.63), junior Anton Khomenko (200, 23.35), and freshman Aaron Wheeler (110 hurdles, 18.60).
Aptos 113, Harbor 10 >> Seniors Logan Brantley and Casey MacConnell each earned two individual event wins in the Mariners’ SCCAL dual meet Thursday.
Brantley set a personal record in the discus with the fourth longest throw in school history (162-5) and also took first in the shot put (53-2.5). MacConnell took first in the 100 (11.39) and high jump (6-0).Aptos won the 4×100 relay (44.66) and 4×400 relay (4:15.73), and also received wins from seniors Colin Dagnall (3,200; 11:05.46), Adrian Fernandez (110 hurdles, 20.08), and Dylan Guisado (long jump, 19-10), junior Brady Bliesner (400, 53.24), sophomores Anthony Sandford-Carroll (1,600; 4:43.78) and Ethan Henry (300 hurdles, 48.81), and freshman Drew Parker (triple jump, 27-10).
Harbor senior Luke Wyland took first in the 200 (23.02).
SLV, St. Abraham’s at Soquel >> The host Knights beat SLV 79-26 and St. Abraham’s 92-15, and the SLV beat St. Abraham’s 60-23 in the SCCAL tri-meet Thursday.
The Knights received event wins from seniors Logan Walters (100, 11.33), Tomas Church (400, 54.30), and Nolen Westfall (triple jump, 34-0), juniors Django Diallak (200, 24.38), Aiden Amsden (discus, 99-8), and Jack Cash (pole vault, 10-6), and freshman Edgar Serna Esqueda (800, 2:18.72).
Soquel won the 4×100 relay (45.33) and 4×400 relay (4:01.05).
SLV sophomore Jonathan Santi (1,600; 5:09.96), senior Cody Bumbaca-Thomas (shot put, 35-5.5), and freshman Finn Lonsdale (high jump, 5-10) earned wins.
St. Abraham’s junior Bryson Trent took first in the long jump (20-4).
At King City 99.5, Watsonville 36.49 >> The Wildcatz earned two track wins and two field wins, but lost their Pacific Coast Athletic League dual meet Thursday.
The Wildcatz earned event wins from seniors Gerardo Acosta-Perez (110 hurdles, 18.65) and Gerardo Acosta-Perez (pole vault, 10-6), junior Lisandro Pantoja (discus, 142-9.25), and freshman Noel Navarro (300 hurdles, 44.00).
Girls track and field
SLV. St. Abraham’s at Soquel >> The host Knights edged SLV 60-56 and earned a 96-8 win over St. Abraham’s, and SLV beat St. Abraham’s 77-8 in the SCCAL tri-meet Thursday.
SLV senior Naomi Seastrom took first in the 400 (1:01.76) and 300 hurdles (47.97) and the Cougars earned wins in eight events, including the 4×100 relay (54.61) and 4×400 relay (4:35.89).
Other SLV event winners include: senior Orea Pollock (high jump, 4-10), and sophomores Madison Fogerty (100, 13.58), Skyla Leggett (800, 2:32.27), and Chloe Ryssemus (triple jump, 29-6.5).
Soquel sophomore Juliet Dunton took first in the 200 (28.95) and pole vault (7-0).
Other Knights’ event winners were juniors Indy Smith (shot put, 26-4.5), Summer Shields (discus, 75-0), and Lia Chiaramonte (long jump, 13-7), and freshman Taylor Glinkowski (1,600; 5:39.73).
Watsonville 77, at King City 59 >> Seniors Katelynn Ruiz and Jocelyn Guzman each earned two individual wins in the Wildcatz’s PCAL dual meet victory Thursday.
Ruiz took first in the 800 (2:38.10) and 1,600 (5:44.97), and Guzman took first in the 400 (1:05.72) and 300 hurdles (52.51).
The Wildcatz also won the 4×400 relay (4:43.49), and earned event wins from seniors Jayleen Arredondo (pole vault, 8-0) and Brianna Reyes (long jump, 15-5), junior Azucena Sandoval (3,200; 12:37.30), and sophomore Brianna Vanegas (triple jump, 29-8).
Aptos 114, Harbor 16 >> Sophomore Kenzie Culbertson took first in the 400 (1:01.67), 800 (2:33.21), and 3,200 (15:06.24) to help the Mariners win their SCCAL meet Thursday.
Sophomores Bella Hartnett and Scarlett Stateler each won two events for the Mariners. Hartnett took first in the 100 (12.94) and 200 (26.54), and Stateler took first in the shot put (27-4) and triple jump (32-4).
Aptos took first in the 4×100 relay (53.54) and received event wins from senior Izzy Graff (long jump, 15-9), junior Maya Schiro (1,600; 5:29.36), sophomore Ellie Marta (discus, 87-7), and freshmen Sophie Stearn (100 hurdles, 21.46), Lila Gilbert (300 hurdles, 1:01.97), and Hannah Noheuan-Cordova (pole vault, 6-0).
Harbor sophomore Cecile Novembre took first in the high jump (4-10).
Santa Cruz 47, Scotts Valley 26, Mount Madonna 10 >> Sophomore Joy Roberts took first in the 100 (12.88) and 200 (25.91) to help the Cardinals earn the team SCCAL tri-meet victory Thursday.
The Cardinals took first in the 4×100 relay (52.42) and 4×400 relay (4:26.42), and also earned event wins from seniors Amelia Palm (400, 1:05.26), Heidi Green (800, 2:18.91), Sarah Drees (300 hurdles, 53.44), and Maeve Golliher (high jump, 4-2), and junior Chloe Hood (1,600; 5:58.63).
Mount Madonna sophomore Gianna Clayton-Holmdahl took first in the shot put (17-11) and discus (41-0).
Scotts Valley senior Rayne Leonetti took first in the long jump (15-3).
