Colorado Day
Happy birthday to you, Colorado. Happy birthday to you, Colorado. Happy birthday dear, Colorado. Lived here all my life, because you’re a wonderful state to live in.
Prairie dogs
This is Dr. Michael Smith. I’m calling from Meadowview neighborhood regarding the city’s removal, without informing anybody, removal of the prairie dogs in the area. They are on top of removing them. They’re leaving them out in 100 degrees in cages. This is a bad decision on all fronts. It is disrupting the ecosystem in the area. It’s making us a total urban area, and the beauty of where we live is having lots of diverse animal life, which is critical to a healthy ecosystem. This needs to stop immediately. Stop immediately.
Support firefighters
The firefighters on the ground as well as in the air are doing an outstanding job. Please, support them in your prayers and in, possibly, gifts of food and refreshments.
Stage 2 restrictions
I appreciate that everybody in charge says that all these areas are in Stage 2 lockdown for fire control, but they should figure out a way to quickly describe what Stage 2 means, because I finally found it further down in the article that it means anything that can cause a spark, like a backfiring truck or vehicle or, I don’t know, throwing out a cigarette, any kind of spark. That’s what people need to see in the first two lines.
Lack of AC
An article in this morning’s paper talked about, in this case Phoenix, where people living in mobile homes are suffering, and some are dying, due to the extreme heat. It just points out that there’s a lot of people here in Longmont that don’t have access to air conditioning, have trouble even affording a window fan. And something we need to think about, we don’t want our residents dying due to climate change.
Fair coverage?
I’d like to comment on Times-Call’s lack of coverage for the Boulder County Fair. Here it is Saturday morning. There’s not one word about anything about the Boulder County Fair. The only thing they’ve talked about is the parade, but there’s no schedule of a fair or nothing. Good job, TC. … And, oh by the way, they sure covered the baseball kids in Boulder. I thought the Times-Call was a Longmont paper. There’s not one word about Little League baseball. Another good job.
