KEY MATCHUP: Packers QB Jordan Love vs. Bears pass defense. Love threw three touchdown passes in his first meeting with the Bears and has been particularly effective lately with 16 touchdown passes and only one interception over his past seven games. Chicago’s defense has improved since that season-opening matchup with Green Bay, thanks in part to the acquisition of DE Montez Sweat at the trade deadline.

SERIES NOTES: The Packers have beaten the Bears nine straight times. The Bears’ most recent victory in this series was a 24-17 game at Soldier Field on Dec. 16, 2018. Green Bay is undefeated against the Bears since Matt LaFleur took over as the Packers’ coach for the 2019 season.

STATS AND STUFF: Chicago has won five of seven. ... The Bears had 432 yards against Atlanta after gaining 420 against Arizona. Their only other 400-yard games were in Weeks 4 and 5, when they put up 471 in a loss to Denver and 451 in a win at Washington. ... Sweat is tied for 10th in the NFL with a career-high 12 1/2 sacks — six since a trade from Washington. He leads both teams, making him the first player in NFL history to do that at any point in a season. ... Bears RB Khalil Herbert set season highs in the past two games, running for 124 yards last week after rushing for 112 in a win over Arizona. Herbert had been limited to 75 yards on 31 attempts over the previous four games. He missed five prior to that because of an ankle injury. ... Packers WRs Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed have eight TD catches each, putting them in a tie for eighth in the league in that category. … Reed has 10 total TDs, as he also scored twice on runs from scrimmage. The only other player to have at least eight TD catches and multiple TD runs this season is Dallas’ CeeDee Lamb.

KEY MATCHUP: The Browns vs. their painful injury history. Cleveland just wants to get out of this game as healthy as possible in advance of its wild-card matchup. Coach Kevin Stefanski is sitting many of his starters for rest and to hopefully avoid losing anyone else.

SERIES NOTES: The Browns have won six of the past seven meetings, and nine of the past 11. Cincinnati has played more games against Cleveland (100) than any foe except Pittsburgh (109). ... When Cleveland swept Cincinnati in 2018, it was the Browns’ first season sweep over the Bengals since 2002.

STATS AND STUFF: The Browns clinched just their third playoff berth since 1999 last week. ... Cleveland’s 11 wins are tied for the second most in team history. The Browns went 12-4 in 1986. ... The Browns have not had a five-game winning steak since 1999. ... Stefanski wouldn’t divulge many names other than Flacco, but said DE Myles Garrett will also sit out. WR Amari Cooper (heel), LG Joel Bitonio, CB Denzel Ward and TE David Njoku — all Pro Bowlers — are expected to rest. ... Bengals QB Jake Browning is 3-3 as the starter after taking over for injured starter Joe Burrow, who tore a ligament in his wrist Nov. 16. ... Hendrickson’s 17 sacks are second in team history only to DE Coy Bacon, who had 22 in 1976.

KEY MATCHUP: Lions DE Aidan Hutchinson vs. Vikings RT Brian O’Neill. Hutchinson, who leads the Lions with 9½ sacks, had four QB hits at Minnesota two weeks ago while O’Neill was sidelined by a sprained ankle. The Vikings have allowed 16 sacks over their past four games. Hutchinson had a career-high four tackles for losses last week.

SERIES NOTES: Detroit clinched its first division title two weeks ago at Minnesota. ... Lions rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs had two rushing TDs, Amon-Ra St. Brown had 106 receiving yards and a third-quarter go-ahead score and DB Ifeatu Melifonwu had the game-sealing INT at the 5-yard line with 49 seconds left to hold off the injury-ravaged Vikings for a six-point win.

STATS AND STUFF: Minnesota can clinch a playoff berth with a win at Detroit and losses by Green Bay and Seattle along with a loss by Tampa Bay or New Orleans. ... Vikings QB Nick Mullens will make his third start. He replaced rookie Jaren Hall after halftime last week, the fifth change at the position in nine games since Kirk Cousins torn an Achilles tendon. ... If Detroit wins, it will tie the 1991 team for the franchise record with 12 victories and will avoid losing consecutive games in a season for the first time since 1972.

Jaguars (9-7) at Titans (5-11)

STATS & STUFF: The Jaguars are 6-2 away from home this season, but have lost consecutive games on the road. They are 0-3 in marquee games, losing to defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City in September and in prime-time games against Cincinnati and Baltimore in December. … Evan Engram is the eighth tight end in NFL history to catch at least 100 passes in a season. He now has 104, 12 shy of the franchise record set by Jimmy Smith in 1999. Engram had 11 catches for a career-high 162 yards and two TDs against Tennessee last season. … The Titans have lost three straight and 18 of the past 23 going back to last season. ... A victory would give the Titans 117 wins at Nissan Stadium, topping the 116 wins at the old Astrodome in Houston for most at any venue in franchise history. ... KEY MATCHUP: Atlanta’s running game, which averages 130 yards per game, against the Saints’ defensive front. The previous time these teams played, the Falcons rushed for 228 yards. The Saints have allowed 200 yards rushing twice this season and more than 130 yards six times.

SERIES NOTES: The Saints had won three straight meetings before the Falcons snapped that streak on Thanksgiving weekend. The Falcons have not swept the season series since 2016. Their 108 regular-season matchups — which they have split — are more than either club has played against any other NFL team.

STATS AND STUFF: Either team could win the NFC South with a win and a loss by Tampa Bay. ... The Falcons’ minus-9 turnover differential is the fifth worst in the league. … WR Drake London needs five catches to become the first Atlanta player with at least 70 catches and 700 receiving yards in each of his first two seasons. ... Saint QB Derek Carr completed 24 of 32 passes (75%) for 197 yards and two TDs without an interception at Tampa Bay last week. … Carr has at least two TD passes in each of his past four games. Carr has 3,614 yards passing this season.

N.Y. Jets (6-10) at Patriots (4-12)

KEY MATCHUP: Patriots QB Bailey Zappe vs. Jets secondary. This will mark Zappe’s sixth straight start since taking over for Mac Jones. He’s had mixed results over that stretch, throwing for six touchdowns but also six interceptions.

SERIES NOTES: The Patriots have won 15 straight meetings, with the Jets’ most recent win coming Dec. 27, 2015, when Ryan Fitzpatrick connected with Eric Decker for a 6-yard TD in overtime that won it 26-20 in Week 16.

STATS AND STUFF: The Jets have the NFL’s longest active playoff drought at 13 seasons, which is also the longest among teams in the four major North American professional sports leagues. New York also clinched its fourth straight season with double-digit losses with its defeat at Cleveland. ... The Patriots entered the week leading the NFL, allowing only 3.2 yards per rush. If it holds it would be the lowest by a team since the 2014 Detroit Lions when they allowed 3.17 yards per rush.

Buccaneers (8-8) at Panthers (2-14)

LAST MEETING: Buccaneers beat Panthers 21-18 on Dec. 3, 2023, in Tampa Bay.

LAST WEEK: Buccaneers lost to Saints 23-13; Panthers lost to Jaguars 26-0.

KEY MATCHUP: Panthers OL vs. Buccaneers pass rush. The Panthers have allowed 62 sacks this season, tied for third most in the NFL. Left tackle Ickey Ekwonu particularly has struggled this season. Tampa Bay comes into the game tied for 10th in the league in sacks with 45, so expect it to dial up the pressure against Young.

SERIES NOTES: The Buccaneers have dominated the series of late, winning six of the past seven games with five of those victories coming when Tom Brady was playing QB.

STATS AND STUFF: The Bucs went 4-1 in December, with Mayfield throwing for 11 touchdowns vs. three interceptions. Joe Flacco (13) and Brock Purdy (12) were the only players who threw more TD passes during the month, while Lamar Jackson, Derek Carr, Jordan Love and Matthew Stafford joined Mayfield with 11. … The Panthers will finish with the worst record in the league, but the No. 1 pick in next year’s draft will go to the Chicago Bears as part of last year’s trade for Young.
