Santa Cruz senior Eli Fitchen-Young and Soquel junior Ben Comilang posted top-three finishes and broke school records at the 2025 Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto on Saturday.

Fitchen-Young took second in the 1,600 meter race in 4 minutes, 5.14 seconds and bettered his school record of 4:11.16, set at the 2024 Central Coast Section Championships. Moreover, it’s the second-fastest time turned in by California runner this season.

Fitchen-Young, who is committed to Duke University, also owns the state’s top mark in the 3,200 (8:56.43) this season.

Fitchen-Young was the top CCS runner in the 1,600. He finished behind Dana Hills senior Evan Noonan (4:04.88), a Stanford commit. Los Gatos senior Aydon Stefanopoulos (4:06.62), who will compete at UCLA next season, took third.

Comilang, a transfer from Aptos, took third in the triple jump with a mark of 45 feet, 2.5 inches. He broke the Knights’ school record of 42-7.5, set by Isaac Gettleman at the SCCAL Invitational in 2012. (Comilang also holds Aptos’ sixth-best mark in the event, 43-4.25, set at the 2024 Nike Outdoor Nationals.)

Comilang’s mark was the second-best among CCS qualifiers. He finished behind Piedmont senior Miguel Long (45-8.5) and St. Ignatius senior Noah Gonzalez (45-7).

Aptos sophomore Sam Hansen took seventh in the 1,600 in 4:12.96, a personal best and the third-fastest mark in school history.

Aptos senior Logan Brantley took 11th in the shot put (52-2.75) and 14th in the discus (131-4).

Scotts Valley junior Aaron Weiss took 16th in the 800 with a PR (1:55.37), which helped him climb from seventh to fifth on the school’s all-time list.

Aptos junior Brady Bliesner took 18th in the 800 (1:55.81), and Watsonville senior Nathaniel Aceves-Aguilar took 18th in the triple jump (39-2.25).

In girls action, Scotts Valley junior Ava Decleve took sixth in the 800 (2:14.22). She PR’d by one-hundredth of a second and remains in second on the school’s all-time list.

Santa Cruz senior Heidi Green took 16th in the 800 (2:16.83), and Aptos sophomore Bella Hartnett took 21st in the 400 (59.43).
