The Estes Nonprofit Network invites the community to a session designed to make nonprofit data management simple, helping nonprofits collect and track the numbers that matter most, put together collection policies, and take on the challenges of the data collection process.
According to Karen McPherson Jackson of the Estes Nonprofit Network, the median revenue for Estes Valley nonprofits is $132,000, according to the Estes Nonprofit Network’s 2024 Estes Valley Economic Impact Study, and most local nonprofits likely don’t have their own tech team.
This session, led by Data Coach Lindsay Morgia, aims to break down the basics of data management in nonprofit organizations, and help identify the most important data to track. Morgia is poised to teach nonprofit staffers how to create simple policies for reporting and collecting data, as well as troubleshoot common challenges like messy or overwhelming data. She’ll also touch on non-technical tips centered around data privacy and security.
The event is scheduled for June 23 from 9 to 11 a.m.
“Again, the Nonprofit Network is bringing expertise up the mountain to make training as accessible as possible,” McPherson Jackson said in a news release. “This workshop is built for nonprofit staff juggling data responsibilities, executive directors, program managers, and anyone looking to streamline data tracking and reporting. All of the tips and tricks here on impact measurement and evaluation will make it easier to apply for grants with good data.”
Presenter Lindsay Morgia spent 15 years in the nonprofit and public sectors, McPherson Jackson said in the release, adding that Morgia feels that her strengths lie in collecting and analyzing data for problem-solving. Morgia now owns “The Data Coach” and passes along her valuable experiences, values, and research skills to nonprofits and fellow consultants.
All educational programs, including this one, are free for Estes Valley nonprofit staff and volunteers, and $50 for community members, government agencies, non-local nonprofits, and for-profits. Register at epnonprofit.org/education. The final registration deadline is Wednesday, June 18.
While there are nine nonprofits that operate with a budget of over $1 million, over half have an operating budget that totals below $200,000.
“Streamlining data collection is one way that nonprofits operating with volunteer or part-time staff, and that may be short on capacity, can spend more time on the mission and have valuable data for funders,” McPherson Jackson said.
