The Winters Theatre Company is inviting the community to submit original scripts for the annual 10-minute play festival.
The festival is scheduled for the weekends of Feb. 28 and March 7 and will be held in the historic Winters Opera House on Main Street in downtown Winters.
There is no theme for the festival so all 10-minute scripts are welcome. Authors should be 18 years or older in order to submit and are limited to two play submissions per person. Play submissions are being accepted through Sept. 30.
Eight scripts will be chosen to be performed at the festival. Final selections will be announced Nov. 1.

It’s time to start practicing your “bend and snap” because “Legally Blonde: the Musical” is coming to the Woodland Opera House.
Based on the novel and hit-movie of the same name, the show follows perky UCLA sorority girl Elle Woods who finds her life turned upside down when she is dumped by her boyfriend Warner. Determined to win Warner back and prove to him she is more than some blonde sorority girl, she follows him to Harvard Law.
“Audiences can expect an exhilarating theatrical spectacle in ‘Legally Blonde: the Musical,’ filled with vibrant musical numbers, dynamic choreography and a visual flair that brings the iconic story to life in a dazzling, high-energy production,” said a press release from the Woodland Opera House. “From the bubbly, infectious energy of the sorority scenes to the show-stopping dance breaks, this adaption will delight and entertain with its sheer sense of fun and theatrical pizzazz.”
While younger children may be able to follow the basic storyline, “Legally Blonde” is likely best suited for viewers in the 12-14 age range and above, who have the cognitive and emotional maturity to engage with the thematic depth and nuances of the plot.
“Legally Blonde” will play at the Woodland Opera House from Aug. 16-31. Tickets are $25-35 for adults, $20-30 for seniors 62 and older and $15-20 for children under 17. Balcony tickets are $15-25 for adults, $12-20 for seniors and $9-15 for children.

Actors of all genders, ages, races, body types, physical abilities and ethnicities are encouraged to audition. Individuals of any gender may be cast for any roles, but actors must be willing to play the gender associated with the character.
