The U.S. Mint’s new $1 coin showing President Donald Trump’s image and the seal of the United States in a gold finish has been released. The coin’s design was given the stamp of approval this year by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, whose members Trump appointed. A roll of 25 coins will cost $61, and a bag of 100 will cost $154.50. The coins, which can be used as legal tender, stirred some criticism particularly because of federal law that bars the depiction of a living president on U.S. currency, but the treasury secretary has authority to authorize special coins.
