(Records through Sunday)

1. LA SERNA (20-2)

Previous: 2

Notable: The Lancers are the real deal. They are ranked No. 1 in CIF-SS Division 3 and this week they move to the top of the San Gabriel Valley rankings for the first time this season. They have earned it. They haven’t played a schedule as tough as some other teams, but remember they started the season with wins over Mater Dei and South Hills.

2. BONITA (13-4)

Previous: 3

Notable: The Palomares League heats up this week with Bonita, Ayala and Glendora all with 5-1 records. The Bearcats and Tartans meet twice this week, with the Bearcats hosting today and then traveling to the Tartans on Thursday.

3. BISHOP AMAT (17-3-1)

Previous: 4

Notable: The Lancers are really playing well with just one loss in their last 15 games. They’re 8-0 in the Del Rey League, and have all but wrapped it up. They play Serra twice this week before next week’s big two-game set against La Salle, which is in second place.

4. LA MIRADA (15-5)

Previous: 7

Notable: The Matadores played extremely well at the Boras Classic. After losing their opening game to Huntington Beach, they won out the rest of the way, beating Santiago, Corona and Norco, which is no easy task. They return to Gateway League play this week.

5. DAMIEN (15-4-2)

Previous: 5

Notable: The Spartans are probably the area’s surprise team of the season with their 8-0 record in the tough Baseline League. But they have some tough games remaining. After three games against Rancho Cucamonga this week, they finish with three against Etiwanda next week. Etiwanda is 7-1 in league.

6. SOUTH HILLS (16-5)

Previous: 6

Notable: The Huskies took over sole possession of first in the Hacienda League with a sweep of Walnut to go to 6-0. They have two games left against Diamond Bar and against Rowland to finish league play, and they will take on La Quinta on Saturday in a nonleague game.

7. ARCADIA (17-3)

Previous: 8

Notable: The Apaches and Crescenta Valley are on a collision course in the race for the Pacific League title. Both teams are 10-0 and meet next week to decide the league title. The Apaches have two games against Burbank this week and need to take care of business.

8. SAN DIMAS (15-7)

Previous: 1

Notable: The Saints had a rough week at the Boras Classic, losing games to Notre Dame, Park, Etiwanda and Cypress, which does not bode well with the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs starting later this month. The good news is they’re still undefeated in the Valle Vista League.

9. MARANATHA (13-2)

Previous: 9

Notable: The Mintuemen showed they belong in the Top 10 by going 2-2 in the Boras Classic, beating Villa Park and Santa Margarita and losing 3-2 to Mater Dei in nine innings. They return to the Olympic League and could wrap up the title this week.

10. NOGALES (15-1)

Previous: 10

Notable: The Nobles, ranked No. 10 in Division 4, are having a great season for veteran coach Donald Montanez, who will retire at the end of the season. The Nobles will honor him during a ceremony Saturday when they take on Wilson.
