Paul Goldschmidt had two RBIs and Cody Bellinger had three hits before a sellout crowd of 47,700.

Soto, who left the Yankees for a record $765 million, 15-year contract with the Mets, was booed loudly by fans who rose to their feet when he batted in the first inning. He responded by taking off his helmet, tipping it to the crowd and touching it against his heart.

Rodón (5-3) allowed one run and two hits in five innings.

Mariners 5, Padres 1: J.P. Crawford homered on Stephen Kolek’s first pitch and Rowdy Tellez and Cal Raleigh each added a two-run shot for Seattle in a road win over San Diego.

Rookie Logan Evans (2-1) pitched six strong innings for the AL West-leading Mariners.

Twins 3, Brewers 0: Joe Ryan allowed two hits and struck out nine in six innings, and visiting Minnesota beat Milwaukee and extended its streak of holding opponents scoreless to 24 innings while winning its 12th in a row.

Ryan (4-2) walked one in a 99-pitch outing for the Twins, who haven’t allowed a run since giving up six in the third inning of a win at Baltimore on Wednesday.

Minnesota (25-20) was seven games under .500 when it began its streak.

Cubs 13, White Sox 3: Pete Crow-Armstrong homered and drove in a career-high six runs, helping the Chicago Cubs beat the White Sox at Wrigley Field.

Cade Horton (2-0) pitched five innings of three-run ball in his first career start.

Miguel Vargas went deep twice for the White Sox. He matched a career high with four hits.

But the Cubs went ahead to stay with six runs (one earned) in the second against Shane Smith (1-3), including Crow-Armstrong’s three-run drive.

Tigers 5, Blue Jays 4: Riley Greene homered and drove in three runs, Javier Báez and Zach McKinstry also connected and Detroit became the first team this season to reach 30 wins, beating host Toronto.

Jack Flaherty (2-5) allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings and snapped a six-start winless streak.

Cardinals 10, Royals 3: Iván Herrera had three hits and four RBIs, Andre Pallante allowed two runs in seven innings, and St. Louis won at Kansas City.

Astros 6, Rangers 3: Christian Walker hit a three-run homer to cap a six-run seventh inning as visiting Houston ended Texas’ six-game winning streak.

Braves 4, Red Sox 2: Chris Sale struck out eight and pitched seven solid innings, leading Atlanta over Boston at Fenway Park.

Sale (2-3), who won a World Series with Boston, earned his first win since April 25.

Phillies 8, Pirates 4: Bryce Harper reached 1,000 RBIs and was part of a wild seventh-inning rally in which host Philadelphia scored four runs on just one hit in a victory over Pittsburgh.

Harper, who had three hits and reached base four times, picked up his milestone RBI with a bloop single to left field off Pirates starter Andrew Heaney. Harper is one of eight active players with 1,000 RBIs.

Reds 5, Guardians 4: Will Benson hit a three-run homer, Brady Singer earned his fifth win and Cincinnati edged visiting Cleveland.

Singer (5-2) allowed three runs, three hits and one walk in five innings.

Marlins 9, Rays 4: Eric Wagaman had three hits and two RBIs, Connor Norby added a three-run double, and Miami beat visiting Tampa Bay.

Nationals 4, Orioles 3: José Tena came around from second base to score the tiebreaking run on an infield hit by Nasim Nuñez in the ninth inning, and Washington got home runs from Nathaniel Lowe and James Wood in a victory at Baltimore.
