


We’re through the last full week in April, and golfers in Macomb County have continued to find their swings.
These teams have been at the top of their game so far throughout some early competitions.
Scores provided are sourced from iWanamaker and are for 9-hole competitions.
1. Anchor Bay Tars (154.7 average, 3 rounds)
Anchor Bay didn’t hit the courses this week for a 9-hole run, maintaining their county-best average through the last full week in April. Gavin Sherby’s 35 against L’Anse Creuse North on April 17 stands as one of the best performances in the state so far and his teammate, Jack Higgins, has the No. 15 scoring average in Michigan.
2. Romeo Bulldogs (157.6 average, 5 rounds)
The Bulldogs shot sub-160 twice since the last rankings with a 156 at The Fortress in Frankenmuth and 158 against Grosse Pointe South at Gowanie in Harrison Township. Robert Martin’s 39.4 average leads the team.
3. Eisenhower Eagles (162.4 average, 8 rounds)
The Eagles ran away with the UCS city quad on Wednesday, shooting a team score of 152.5 — almost a full 19 strokes better than the next-best team. Adam Morrison’s average of 38.3 through six rounds is good for 90th in Michigan.
4. De La Salle Pilots (163.3 average, 7 rounds)
The Pilots showed out at Travis Pointe CC in Ann Arbor, shooting a 158 as a team. Julian Sinishtaj ripped a 36 and 39 in his two rounds there, and his average of 36.8 is No. 17 in the state. Their JV team nailed a 155 on Thursday.
5. L’Anse Creuse North Crusaders (163.4 average, 7 rounds)
The Crusaders played their best golf of the season to date on Tuesday when they shot a team score of 152 against Marine City at Bello Woods in Macomb. Their top golfer, Scott Higuchi, is averaging a 38.8.
6. Lutheran North Mustangs (165 average, 6 rounds)
The Mustangs struggled at The Fortress in Frankenmuth, shooting 168 and 175 to bring their average up from 162, where it sat one week ago. Noah Shea shot a 36 and 42 in the event.
7. L’Anse Creuse Lancers (168 average, 4 rounds)
Tyler Conklin has led the team so far, which includes his shooting a 41 against Port Huron Northern at Port Huron GC on Tuesday.
8. Utica Chieftains (169 average, 6 rounds)
The Chieftains had their best showing of the week at Oak Ridge on Tuesday where they shot 165 against Chippewa Valley. Braeden Kurmas’s average through six rounds sits bang-on at 40.
9. Dakota Cougars (172.5 average, 13 rounds)
Dakota’s team average came down from last week thanks in part to a team score of 160 at the Wayne Wire meet at The Fortress in Frankenmuth on Saturday, April 19.
10. Stevenson Titans (173.7 average, 7 rounds)
Timothy Meister has been active with seven rounds already, through which he’s shot a 41.3 average. He broke 40 twice in the UCS quad at Cherry Creek.
