As soon as safety Cam Bynum intercepted a pass Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, he made a beeline to the end zone with fellow safety Josh Metellus not far behind.

What followed was a piece of choreography from the Vikings most millennials recognized as Bynum and Metellus performed a perfect rendition of the secret handshake from “The Parent Trap” that actress Lindsey Lohan made famous in the 1998 movie.

In the movie, Lohan, who plays an identical twin living in London, and actor Simon Kunz, who plays her butler, have a secret handshake that features a a bunch of moving parts. That explains why Bynum and Metellus actually practiced for the moment in the hours leading up to the game between the Vikings and the New York Jets.

In a post on his Instagram account, Bynum gave a peek behind the curtain, showing him and Metellus working on the secret handshake in what appears to be the team hotel.

Naturally, the celebration from Bynum and Metellus went viral on social media, with iconic pop culture brands like People even chiming in with some commentary regarding the secrete handshake from across the pond.

Asked about the celebration itself, Bynum noted that the “The Parent Trap” is among his favorite movies, and because of that, he wanted to pay homage to it with the Vikings playing in London. There was no doubt in his mind what he would be doing if he were able to force a turnover.

“As soon as I knew we were playing in London, and I watched that movie last week, I’m like, ‘This is it,’ ” Bynum said. “We know we’re going to get that ball, so my mindset is I’ve got to have something ready every single week.”

The preparation served Bynum well as he consistently has been at the epicenter of some splash plays.

He recreated an Usher dance after an interception against Houston, then hit a backflip after recovering a fumble against Green Bay. Those celebrations from Bynum also were accompanied by an Instagram post that showed him practicing for the occasion.

After the Vikings finished their 23-17 win over the Jets on Sunday, Bynum joked the defense is on a “generational celebration run” amid a 5-0 start.

None more impressive than what Bynum and Metellus did on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
