To the Editor:
Faith, family, friends, integrity, character and life. These are things that are very close to some of us. Faith in a higher power, yes. Yet, more so in humanity or others around us. Faith that people will naturally try to do what is right and be good to others.
Family is the best thing to keep closest to our hearts. We need family. When humanity fails us our family can save us. Friends, as with family, can restore our faith, in society once again. Friendship is something that is earned as friends are our “chosen family” if you will. Keep these things close to you, it helps.
I found a quote on “integrity” yet I am not sure who wrote it: “No matter how educated, talented, rich or cool you believe you are, how you treat people tells all. Integrity is everything.” Even meeting total strangers, we as a people can judge one’s integrity and character after an hour or so, maybe sooner. These people “protesting” the election, yet don’t know why they are, might not score high on our character scale. It reminds people in my life of us in middle school. A high school teacher was fired and the high school’s students protested. Us, as stupid teens thought, “Yeah, we should protest too,” not even knowing why we were. We see so many people who are doing this. Mad yet not sure why. Once again showing one’s character based on our actions. People see this and people then make their judgment of you, so don’t be angry if you don’t like their assessment.
When will everyone open their minds? When will we understand if we do not agree on something? This doesn’t make us enemies. Once again, be good to each other. Stop looking at everyone as a Democrat or Republican. White or black. Rich or poor. Start judging each other based on our hearts and actions. Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words. We hear these things for a reason. People before us are trying to teach us from their mistakes. When will we learn?
God bless, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Smile, life is only what we make it.
