WADSWORTH – While odd numbered years are typically not very busy elections on the state and federal levels, local voters still have an opportunity to exercise their right to vote on a number of local candidates.
A number of city, township and school board races will appear on the Nov. 7 ballot.
While many of the candidates are unopposed, there are challengers in some of the races.
According to the Medina County Board of Elections, incumbents Julie Batey and Amanda Gordon are running for re-election on the Wadsworth Board of Education. Board of Education member Mark Casalinova, whose seat is also up, chose not to run for re-election. Candidates Chantelle Eggleton, Gary McComas, Bill Neiser and Natalie Sydorenko are also vying for a seat on the Board of Education. Voters must choose no more than three candidates.
On Wadsworth City Council Ward 2 Republican incumbent Robert Titus will face off against Democrat Challenger Summer Costanzo.
In Ward 3, Democrat Lee Potts, who was just appointed to the seat earlier this month to replace John Sharkey who retired in July, will face off against Republican Joe Magnacca.
Unopposed city candidates include Treasurer Lisa Jones; Council President Bob Thurber; Councilors-at-large Patricia Haskins, Thomas Stugmyer and David Williams; Ward 1 Councilor Ralph Copley; Ward 4 Councilor Bruce Darlington; and Wadsworth Municipal Court Judge Stephen McIlvaine.
In Wadsworth Township, incumbent trustees Robert Engler and Jim Gardner are both running unopposed.
