Medina Police
Aug. 9 – A woman called police saying she was in the hospital for over a week and gave her great-niece her debit card and pin number in order for her to pay the woman’s mortgage. The woman also let the great-niece borrow her car for the day. Ten days later, the car has not been returned and there have been over $1,000 worth of unauthorized charges on the card. The vehicle was entered as stolen and a fraud report was taken.
Medina County Sheriff
Aug. 8 – A man reportedly gave permission to search Montville Township hotel room around 10 a.m. and methamphetamine and paraphernalia, including a syringe and straws, were allegedly found. Zachary Taylor, 29, of Norton, was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Aug. 2 – A breaking and entering was reported at a State Road residence in Sharon Township, with a chainsaw, leaf blower and bow reported missing.
July 25 – A vehicle was stopped on Interstate 71 northbound for marked lanes in Montville Township at 4:12 p.m. A canine alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, and methamphetamine and materials used to make the drug were allegedly found. Melinda Collins, 36, of Cleveland, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, illegal assembly and possession of a controlled substance, all felonies.
July 24 – A burglary was reported at a State Road residence between July 20-24, with several items taken, including a weed eater, leaf blowers and a pressure washer.
July 22 – Units responded to a Granger Road address in Granger Township at 10:40 p.m. after a 13-year-old male had injured his face and mouth after a can of bug spray was thrown into a fire by the boy and exploded. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Medina Police
Aug. 13 – Police were called to a North Court Street business at 2:25 p.m. after a male reportedly tried ripping a purse away from a female’s arm. A report was taken.
Aug. 13 – A burglary was reported at a South Court Street business at 2:23 p.m. Someone reportedly broke in and went through the building.
Aug. 13 – Police took a report after an Abbeyville Road resident reported receiving a threatening Facebook message.
Aug. 13 – An officer investigated a suspicious vehicle at a North Court Street business at 1:14 a.m. Kevin F. Warner, 32, of Bedford, was cited for marijuana possession.
Aug. 12 – A North Broadway Street resident called police at 11:52 p.m. to report someone kept driving by his house.
Aug. 12 – Someone trying to get signatures for a petition from residents on Tremain Place called police at 3:25 p.m. to report being threatened. A report was taken.
Aug. 12 – Police were called to Braddocks Landing at 10:21 a.m. on a report of a female knocking on doors asking for a ride after being seen sleeping in a resident’s yard. She was given a ride home.
Aug. 12 – Police took a report for theft after a female tenant at a West Liberty Street residence took property that didn’t belong to her while moving out of a rental property.
Aug. 11 – An employee at a South Court Street gas station called police at 5:18 p.m. to report a male drove off without paying for gasoline. Joshua M. Wix, 30, of Leavittsburg, was charged with theft.
Montville Township Police
July 29 – A River Styx Road resident reported they could hear loud music for hours. Police arrived and said the noise was minimal, but spoke with the homeowner listening to the music and advised them of the complaint. The homeowner agreed to turn the stereo down and to lower their voices.
July 29 – People at a Ridgestone Way graduation party were advised to quiet down after a caller reported loud music and singing coming from the residence at 10:11 p.m.
July 28 – A Glenview Court homeowner was not feeling well and reportedly found a small cloth baggie on a chair in her bedroom. She was concerned the baggie contained a drug, however when police examined the baggie it was determined to be lavender potpourri.
July 28 – Individuals who were “possibly high” were reportedly asking for money at a Medina Road business at 10:06 p.m.
July 27 – A Perian Court homeowner’s overhead garage door was found to be open, and when she walked outside she discovered the rear window of her SUV was shattered. She said the incident occurred within the past three hours. Police checked the inside of the vehicle along with the garage but could not find any rocks, golf balls or other debris that may have cause the damage. The homeowner said she would check with neighbors to see if the incident was caught on video.
July 27 – A Poe Road resident stopped by the station to report her windshield was shattered by a golf ball near Fox Meadow Country Club.
July 26 – Police spoke with a Trystin Tree Drive homeowner concerning issues with online sale on Craigslist. The resident had not suffered any loss but believed his communications with an unknown individual might have been a scam.
July 24 – Approximately 11 mailboxes and a sign were found to be damaged with what appeared to be a baseball bat. The case is under investigation.
July 24 – A complainant who maintains flower beds for a Cobblefield Drive property reportedly located a box of 9 mm rounds in the grass near the road. She advised she had not interest in keeping the bullets and turned them over to the police department.
July 23 – A caller advised children on East Normandy Park Drive sounded “like they are being murdered” and their parents “aren’t dealing with it and are smoking cigs.” Police advised the family of the complaint and spoke with a 6-year-old boy who was responsible for the noise. Everyone said they would quiet down.
July 23 – Someone reported a 15-year-old boy was selling candy for “people on drugs” on Riverrock Way. Police located a male selling chocolate door to door and advised him to stop until he could secure a solicitors permit.
Medina Township Police
Aug. 10 – A South Weymouth Road resident called police to report possible criminal mischief after damage to property was noticed. The complainant called police back prior to an officer’s arrival after realizing a squirrel had caused the damage.
Aug. 9 – Police responded to a disturbance at a Hamilton Road address at 1:50 a.m. Derrike C. McClendon, 27, of South Broadway Street, was arrested for aggravating menacing after allegedly threatening to kill someone. He was booked into the county jail.
July 27 – Police responded to an Eastpointe Drive business at 5 a.m. on a report of an assault. Jennifer R. Fonseca, 25, of West Park Boulevard, was charged with assault.
