
Montville Township Police
March 14 – Police stopped a vehicle on Normandy Park Drive that had reportedly been driving erratically in the snow. The driver reportedly advised he had just moved here from India and had not driven in snow in a long time. Dispatch advised his license was suspended in Georgia but was valid in Ohio. Police advised him not to drive in these conditions if he was not confident.
Montville Township Police
March 14 – Someone reported a male and female yelling at a Montville Trails Drive address, and the male was allegedly throwing the female’s things outside. Police attempted to make contact at the residence but had negative results. Numbers for the residents were called and messages were left.
March 14 – Someone advised a male and female were sleeping in a car at 7:34 a.m. on Normandy Park Drive. The male was a resident of the apartment complex and was locked out. He was waiting to hear from a family member to let him in.
March 13 – Police responded to a report of a vehicle stuck in a ditch on Wadsworth Road. Upon arrival, Daniel McFadden, 62, of Texas, was reportedly found to be impaired. His 12-year-old daughter was reportedly in the passenger seat. McFadden was arrested for OVI and endangering.
March 13 – Police removed dogs from River Styx Road.
March 11 – A clerk at a Gateway Drive hotel reported a male was walking around the property and trying to sleep in the lobby at 3:32 a.m. Police found it was an intoxicated male trying to walk from a Medina Road bar to Stonebrooke apartments, but he got cold and made a stop at the hotel. The male was reportedly cooperative and had not caused any damage, so he was given a courtesy ride to his residence.
Medina County Sheriff
March 24 — A 30-year-old Cleveland man was cited for driving under suspension for failure to pay child support during a traffic stop in the area of Medina Road and Interstate 71 in Montville Township at 1:34 a.m.
March 23 — A 23-year-old Akron man was cited for driving under suspension and failure to register during a traffic stop on Interstate 76 east of state Route 3 in Guilford Township at 8:07 a.m.
March 22 — A 24-year-old Akron woman was cited for driving under suspension and no child restraint during a traffic stop on Medina Road in Sharon Township at 12:34 a.m.
March 15 — Three deer ran in front of a vehicle on Sharon Copley Road in Sharon Township at 1:13 a.m. The driver avoided two of the deer and hit one. The vehicle sustained minor front-end damage and the car wouldn’t restart.
Medina Township Police
March 23 – Police responded to a hit-skip vehicle accident on Hamilton Road 12:11 a.m. The victim, who was not injured, reported a white vehicle tried to pass her and sideswiped her vehicle while traveling the same direction. A suspect was located, according to police.
March 22 – A woman reported to police she was notified by her accountant that an attempt was made to use her Social Security number on a previously-submitted income tax return. A report was made for documentation purposes.
March 17 – Police responded to party at an Eastpointe Drive hotel room at 11:44 p.m. A 19-year-old Garfield Heights female was issued a summons for underage consumption. She and all of the other partygoers were removed from the hotel.
Wadsworth Police Department
March 20 – Personnel from a Williams Reserve Boulevard business notified police that a suspect had stolen numerous items from their store the day before. The suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
March 19 – Police officers responded to a Smokerise Drive parking lot shortly before 7 p.m. in reference to a report of a vehicle that had stopped in the middle of a main aisle. The caller said there was a woman in the driver’s seat rocking back and forth. After an investigation the woman, Romona Schmidt, 53, of Akron, was arrested and charged with physical control. She was later released to a family member.
March 19 – Police officers were dispatched to a gas station in the 900 block of High Street at approximately 8:15 p.m. in reference to a report of a disturbance. After an investigation Jonathan Gregory, 40, of Kentucky, was cited for disorderly conduct.
March 19 – Police officers responded to a business in the 200 block of Main Street at approximately 12:20 a.m. in reference to a report of an unwanted person who keeps returning to the establishment after she has been told she is no longer welcome there. The case is under investigation.
March 19 – Police officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1000 block of High Street at approximately 10:20 p.m. for driving without lights. Officers reported noticing a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After a brief investigation officers found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. All occupants of the vehicle were cited for drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.
March 18 – Police officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Interstate 76 eastbound near state Route 261 at approximately 1:45 a.m. after noticing the driver allegedly failed to signal for a lane change. After an investigation the driver, Kevin Banks, 41, of North Canton, was arrested and charged with OVI.
March 18 – The police department received a call about a possibly impaired driver shortly after 6 p.m. Officers located the driver in the 800 block of High Street and after a brief investigation the driver, Kenneth Moriana, 57, of Third Street, was arrested and charged with OVI. He was later released with a citation.
March 18 – A resident from Brentfield Drive reported that his mailbox was stolen. The case is still pending.
March 17 – Personnel from a business in the 100 block of Main Street reported the theft of 10 Silver Eagle coins. The incident is being investigated.
March 17 – The police department took a trespass report from a resident in the 100 block of Tolbert Avenue. The incident is being investigated.
March 16 – Wadsworth Municipal Court issued a warrant for Thomas Wilson for failure to appear for an arraignment on a theft charge.
March 16 – Police officers reported to a residence on Hillside Drive at approximately 3:50 p.m. in reference to a report of an overdose. Responding officers found a 20-year-old male on the bathroom floor having trouble breathing. Officers administered Narcan and then EMS arrived and took over care, eventually transporting the man to the hospital. The man admitted to injecting heroin earlier in the day.
