The Black River High School Drama Club will perform “Million Dollar Meatballs” on Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 9 at 3 p.m. in the Black River Education Center auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door, costing $6 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Tickets for children under 5 years of age are free.
“Million Dollar Meatballs” is a comical performance, based around two jewel thieves. The thieves hide from police in a restaurant and disguise themselves as chefs, when a food critic enters the restaurant.
Hijinks ensue as the police search for the thieves, the thieves hide in plain sight and the food critic waits for his meal.
“I’m really looking forward to this performance,” said Journalism Advisor Julia Borkosky. “Our students are very good at comedy, especially physical comedy, which appears a lot in this performance. Additionally, this play premiered in October of 2014 and has only been performed in 18 high schools across the country. Black River is the first high school in the state to do this play, so it’s pretty exciting for us to premiere it in Ohio.”
The students have been practicing the play three times a week since the end of January.
“What I look forward to in every production is sitting back during the show and appreciating how far the students have come with their performing skills in just a few months of practice,” said Drama Club Advisor Max Musselman. “All the performers come from different backgrounds, grades and performing experience, but they always surpass even their own expectations. I look forward to what I’m sure will be a wonderful show.”
